About Me

My name is Larisa and I live on the wonderful Gulf Coast in Alabama. Yes, I am a wife, mom of 3, running, beach going, southern kind of gal. I love living here in the South because pretty much lets face it, its only cold for about 30 days here, and they are never in a row. lol! So I can pretty much get out and run 365 days of the year. I know, I know, you can run in the snow, and I envy those snow people. I would die. A little about me. I havent always ran, as a matter of fact it wasnt until April of 2011, when my best friend decided to run one of our local large races, that I decided I was going to run. So I signed up thinking I have a background in personal training, spinning, and swimming, I can RUN! HA, Knowing nothing about running, I lined up at the start line and took off. I made it about a block down the road and ended up walking pretty much the rest of the 3 miles. I came in at 46 minutes. 3 miles seemed like forever. After that race I decided that it was the one sport I have tried that I obviously was not naturally good at, so I started reading and training. In the past 10 mths, I have ran about 30 races, including 5k's, 8k's, 10k's, 15k's, and even a 1/2 marathon. Now I have my mind set of the famous Marine Corp Marathon in D.C, on October 28th, 2012...So off to train...

Thats me on the right celebrating at Rock n Roll Arizona with my fantabulous
sis n law Hannh, yeah she pretty much rocks!

Some history, I also started in January of 2011, my journey of living a healthier me. I was 70lbs overweight and miserable. I had personal trained athletes and taught spinning for years, but had pretty much let myself go. NOT GOOD! So I joined the gym as a member, joined www.myfitnesspal.com, and pretty much lost 50lbs in 5 mths the old fashioned way, by counting calories. I already knew what my body functioned on well, I just had to put those things I knew into action. So to a new healthier me, and you!

Totally inspired that you have already completed so many in such a short amount of time. Such determination!!!

  3. Hey Larisa, it's great to meet another Gulf Coast- based blogger! I've been writing about running and food too (my emphasis is on vegan food though - yep, I'm a vegan in Alabama! ), my blog is at www.veganrunnereats.com if you decide to check it out. Happy holidays to you and your family!
