Meet our chickens, eggs for days...

Have any of you guys ever raised chickens? So my husband gets these wild ideas A LOT, and has decided that we are going to be chicken farmers. YEP, chicken farmers. LOL! Now we live in the city, in a neighborhood, so we had to do our homework on laws. In Mobile it says you can have up to 25 hens, but no roosters and you have to have a certain size coop/run per chicken. My husband being the handy guy he is has started building our chicken coop and its going to be awesome. I cannot wait to show it to you guys when it is done.

In the meantime we officially own 12 baby chicks that we are raising inside for the next 4 weeks till they are big enough to go outside. So I wanted to introduce you to a couple of my kids favorites...

This is Willies chicken "Alvin"

His name is Alvin because he/she looks like a chipmunk from the back. Yes it is a hen but Willie doesn't care, her name is Alvin, lol...

  1. Awesome! I was saying to my husband the other day that I thought we need to raise chickens because we eat so many eggs. Unfortunately we live in a townhome community and it would never fly. Maybe when we move out of the big city!

  3. They are SO cute! I have known people who have raised chickens but haven't tried it myself! We belonged to a CSA farm for a while that had chickens and used to buy the fresh eggs.
