Great vacation, great food, training update, and some awesome jewelry!

Its been a week or so since I did a real post. I'm sorry! I have had a lot of things going on. So I thought I would give you guys a chance to win a pretty cool piece of jewelry from Sweetie and the Bean.
Here is how my week has gone...

My nephew and four of his friends came into town last week and we took them to New Orleans. Nothing like hanging out in New Orleans with five 19/20 yr olds to make you feel old, lol!
See babies! lol! (I may or may not be a little jealous of their age, shhhhhh!)
However, after eating a few beignets, I felt a whole lot better. Yes I did check into MyFitnessPal and see how many calories were in an order of 3. (You cant eat just 1, that would be a sin!). 550! Ouch! Did I care? NO! LOL
You cant go to New Orleans and not eat these things!
I also walked pretty much for 8 hours downtown New Orleans to burn about 1200 calories, so I was pretty sure the beignets didn't mess me up. BAMMMM!
And visited one of my favorite places...
This shirt made me look prego, never wearing it again!
And visited the cathedral...
I love New Orleans and its only about 2 1/2 hours from my house, we actually go there alot. Here is us at the Rock N Roll New Orleans Marathon in February
If you haven't run that race, you should, it is an amazing flat course through the heart of New Orleans. So much fun.

I have made some great food this past week.
I made some spicy hummus.
1 can garbanzo beans drained (keep liquid), 1/8cup of olive oil, crushed red pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic clove.
Put in blender, slowly add in garbanzo bean liquid till you get consistency you want. Enjoy
I don't use tahini, its not necessary for me. You can if you want to.

I have been making some great smoothies...
This one has ice, stash tea, strawberries, spinach, Cabot vanilla greek yogurt, and chia seeds.

Southern delicacy, cornbread and milk. If you have not dome this yet, its amazing. We have been doing this since we were kids and my mom makes the best cornbread in an iron skillet. Amaze-balls!
Last night I made black bean burgers and sweet potato fries. My husband is a meat eater 100%. So I was wondering how he would like these, he loved them!
I took 1 can of black beans (drained and smashed), 3 egg whites, 3/4 cup of 4c whole wheat bread crumbs. I made them spicy by adding chopped jalapenos, crushed red pepper, and cayenne.
Made them into patties, I like them thin, and cooked in a skillet on med heat. I served them on Whole wheat buns with mustard and sliced avocado.
The sweet potato fries were from Alexa. I added cinnamon to them before cooking and drizzled sugar free syrup on them after baking.
This was one of the best meals I have cooked in a long time.

Training update:
I did run 21 miles last week, 8 hour walk in New Orleans, 3 days of strength training, and watched the 2012 Crossfit games live stream on my computer, does that count as a workout? I was sweating watching the strongest people in the world compete. LOL! It was nuts. My FitFluential group was there watching it go down live. I know they had an amazing time and I cant wait for all of their updates on the games.
Oh hello Rich Froning! Yes you are amazing! (Source)

I also got a wonderful email from Saucony Find your Strong Project
I have been wearing Saucony Kinvaras for about a year now, and they are my favorite distance shoe, I love them. Short runs I use my Altra Delilahs, but for my long runs 5+, the Kinvaras are my go to shoe. So these are the Kinvara 3 I ordered
Pretty? I am so excited to get them.
I have gotten some great mail to this week also.
I received this box from Premier Protein
I am looking froward to using these this week in my training, I will update you guys after trying them.
And last but not least. My friend Eliza, who is an amazing make up artist in the Pensacola area also is an amazing jewelry maker. She sent me this bracelet that she made...

  22. Thе gratitude of every home in our Island, in our Empire,
and indeed throughout tҺe world, exceƿt in the abօdes of the gսilty, goes оut to the
British airmen who, undauntеd by odds, unwearіed in their constant challenge and mortal danger, are tսrning the tide of the wօrld war by their
prowess ɑnd by their dеvotion. Neѵer in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.
